Clarity

18.75

Clarity is composed in a Western scale and extensive use of ‘meri’ techniques is necessary to achieve the required pitches of the scale. The melodic phrases and ornaments of the piece evoke the lyrical flow of Baroque flute sonatas or slow Celtic Airs, and the resulting musical impression is a fusion of Japanese and Western elements. The written score for this piece is not intended to be a fixed or final version, as certain aspects of the music are open to variation. A comparison of the two versions available on Youtube (one studio recording and one live recording) indicate the type of possible variations. Private consultation with Adrian can offer further insights and guidance as to how to interpret the score.

Composed 2017.
