Lotus Rising is a collection of over 50 new songs and chants on the theme of spiritual healing and the longing of the human heart for understanding and peace.
Messages from the plant-spirit medicine kingdom, from the realms of inner wisdom, from astral guides and caboclos, from from the ancestral soul, from spirits of the forest, rivers, seas, stars, and from the invisible realms.
“As someone who has been a composer and creative musician all my life, I feel something so different about the process through which these songs have been received or channelled. Arising from time spent deeply immersed in nature, in plant spirit medicine ceremonies, in spiritual retreats, devotional singing circles and in contemplative silence, the songs seem to arrive with a life of their own.”
Messages of universal love and of the courageous healing journey from darkness to light, so beautifully symbolised by the image of the lotus flower rising from dark depths to blossom into the light in unblemished colour and form.
With a mixture of lyrics in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Sanskrit, Japanese and Tibetan.
The new Solo Recordings Album of these songs is a simple stripped-down version with just Adrian’s voice and guitar, joined by Michael Stanton’s guitar on a few tracks.
Adrian is also engaged in an ongoing expanded project of recording these songs in collaboration with Nixi Music, the Medicine Music label of Nils Noa and Txai Fernando. Singers and musicians from around the world are part of this project, including Ayla Schafer, Susie Ro, Elahn Keshava, Sam Lee, Tao Txana, Ravi Freeman, Misha Mullov-Abbado, Chandra Lacombe, Carrie Tree, Andrea Catalan, Nanan, Charlotte Mabon, Carlos Gomes, Gui Alves, Antonio Arvind, Adriano Machado and others.
There is also a new updated edition of the Lotus Rising songbook, with over 60 new illustrations by Noriko Moonbird, translations, guitar chords and footnotes about the songs.
“The lotus flower is a poignant reminder that we can flourish in spite of, or maybe even because of, darkness and struggle. Just like the lotus we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world.” Thich Nhat Hanh
